I'm trying to decide between the

- ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor

and the

- Asus VE248H Black 24" 1920X1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor

I plan to use the monitor for gaming and watching movies. The first one has far more reviews so I would assume it is better but, the LED one is the top rated LED monitor. Some people said that the LED one has some ghosting issues as well and I have never experienced that so I do not know if that is severe or not.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 1st monitor has more reviews because it has been around since 2009.

All monitors have some level of ghosting and everyone perceives ghosting differently. If I notice ghost on a particular monitor, you may not notice it if it is very slight. It just depends on how your brain processes info your eyes send to it. Of course if a monitor has so much ghosting that even a blind person can notice it, then it's best to stay away from it.

See my comments regarding LED backlighting in the following thread.
