Hi guys I got the current setup

2500xp at 12.5x166
Abit Nforce 2 S 1.2 rev
2x256 3200 ddr dualing ram as of today :)
Radeon 9800 Pro

I was wondering if I could do 11x200 with my new ram with my mainboard. I thought I read somewhere I could not do 11x200 with my sort of boards?

just don't want to wreak someone that's why I'm asking in here :)

oh also I forgot to ask I tried 12.5x168 just then and the ram put it self at 402. How do I get the ram to stay at 400?

thx :)

In your BIOS, you should be able to force your speed to be in sync with your FSB. Or manually set it to 200MHz. Set your FSB to 200MHz too.

You can also change your CPU voltage to 1.7 or 1.75. Don't go over 1.8 Volt if you don't have a good cooling solution. You should keep your CPU temperature under 60 Celsius to insure 100% stability.

I forgot to mention that if your CPU is new, you can't change your multiplier. You can only overclock your FSB.

thx for the reply :)

I can change something there it's the FSB/CPU thing it has 200 mhz as one option auto to sync both and speed and 300mhz and stuff like that.

I tryed 12x172 and the computer retarted and the moniter made some sill thing happen and it turned it self off.

I turn computer off and went into the bios to change back to 12x166, bit strange that it can't do 12x172 when I have 3200.

The abit motherboards often undervolt vcore (voltage to cpu). D/L and run motherboard monitor 5 (a free program) to confirm your voltages and temperatures. You may need to increase your vcore to get the cpu to run stably at higher FSB speeds.

Put your ram and cpu in synch. After raising the FSB, run memtest86 (another free program for d/l) to test that your ram is stable. I think you'll most likely find that your ram is OK. It's more likely your cpu is having trouble with the FSB without additional vcore (again, an Abit motherboard usually undervolts).
