Sorry to bother u guys but I don't know what other section to go to.

Here is my new comp.

AMD A64 3000+
MSI K8N NEO PLATINUM NFORCE3 250GB
Ram: either a 1 gig or 2x 512 sticks prob Micron
HD: Seagate 200gb SATA
DVD writer: BENQ dvd writer that can be upgraded to dual layer
DVD-ROM: LG dvd-rom
GPU: 6800GT (hopefully the OCed one by BFG) (I am splitting the cost/use of this comp with my brother so I can afford this biatch)

My main question is what ram to get for the mobo?
Also do I need higher then PC3200 ram for OCing? (can the A64's be OCed?)
Any other suggestions will be appriecated to.

thanks

Ur Mobo takes DDR 400, 333, 266 (PC 3200, PC 2700, PC 2100 respectivly). You can get any one of these, for the best performance you should get the DDR 400. For overclocking mem. I have heard that getting even higher memory helps (such as DDR 433). It is all backward compatable too. If you were to get a DDR 433 it would just run it at 400. ANYWAY, yes the AMD 64 is OC'able, my ASUS board came with software to do it, although I think most people would suggest third party software.

One last thing about the memory...the brand you get also determines how well it can handle being OC'd. I have heard Corsair is one of the top brands though it can be expensive. I have Kingston and it works just fine...

get 1 stick since thise board aint doing DUal channel(easier to upgrade later on)
If you want micron go with Crucial Ballistix great stuff!
Other suggestion OCZ 3500/3700EB other will confirm great ram with A64!

No need of software to overclock its all in the bios!
the 3000 should be a good overlclocker get some PC3500-3700 like this only the CPU will be OCed not the ram.

Asus P4P800DX, P4C 2.6ghz@3.25ghz, 2X512 OCZ PC4000 3-4-4-8, Leadtek FX5900 w/ FX5950U bios@500/1000, 2X30gig Raid0
