Optical audio headphones

i'm not exactly sure what you are looking for.

i personally have not heard of any headphones which use an optical cable. normally there is a device to decode the signal which the headphones plug into.

normally headphones come with either a 3.5mm plug or 1/8" stereo plug depending on what type of headphones you buy. some come with a pluge which can do both.

most headphone wire is braided. this allows for flexibility. if you had thick solid core wire it would be very stiff and has a high possibility of developing a break if bent one too many times. there are different thicknesses of braided cable available on the market ranging from the small wire found on earbuds to thick cables on studio headphones.

now, if you want a pair of what i would consider a high quality pair of over the ear, durable headphones with a nice thick flexible cable and choice of connectors then i would recommend an audio technica ath-m50. or other studio headphone offerings from either audiotechnica or sennheiser.
