Compaq r3000 laptop

I have a compaq r3000 notebook with the mousepad and te scroll pad. When online in my browser I used to be able to scroll up and down without clicking on the side arrows ...now when I touch the scroll side of the pad it just acts like the rest of the pad...what can I do????

Try reloading/installing the driver from Compaq/Hp's support site. Or you can uninstall the driver from device manager, restart, and the computer should reload the driver (if not be prepared to hook up a USB mouse to get to Compaq/HP's support site).
