it keeps overheating while playing games and shuts computer down.

Get a can of air and spray out the vents of the laptop thoroughly, as they maybe a bit clogged up. Also, when playing a hardware intensive game, it is a good idea to use the laptop on flat, hard area to allow the heat to properly dissipate.
