So I have been researching this all day and not really getting very far. I am looking to buy a monitor for my new gaming rig I am building out (since all I have right now is a laptop) and I am stuck on which monitor would be good.

First off my specs on my gaming rig is not yet complete as I am not sure what graphics cards I will be running but will be either 2x580's or 2x6970's unless the newer cards release soon and tempt me enough.

I will be running one monitor for now and would like to run it at 1920x1080 so I have the full HD resolutions. I would down the line like to add tow more monitors to run eyefinity or nvidia surround having a total of three monitors.

Now the monitors I am considering, but also open to more suggestions and input, are:

Dell SX2210 21.5" Full HD
Alienware OptX AW2310

What do you guys think? Is one a better choice over the other? I do prefer to go with a 120mhz refresh rate to maybe try out the 3D gaming and to see if it is any good or not and also the smoother 2D gaming.

Of the two you have, I'd go with the Alienware for the 120Hz in 2D. You will almost always be beyond the 60 fps mark with 2 of either of those video cards even with max details and AA. It would be nice to have a monitor that can match this.

Another model to take a look at would be the Asus which will also run at 120Hz for around USD $350:
