I am thinking about buying a new laptop for use at uni. I would mainly use it for typing up docs, writing programs, run multimedia programs and some games. I've looked at a few models around but I don't know what I should get. I'm prepared to spend around A$ 2000 (I live in Australia)
One of my friends bought a new IBM centrino 1.3 and it looks quite good to me and the price for that model has reached a low point here. I was wondering if anyone has had personal experience with the new things and if so, would they recommend the model. The reason it looks attractive to me is because of the battery life for processing power.
Also, does IBM sell refurbished laptops at all? I've seen dell's site but not IBM's though.
Thank you for your info. I've heard about the pentium-m 900MHz, but I only know that so far Toshiba is the only manufacturer that has come up with a model with that chip.
Btw, is there a difference between the centrino and the pentium-m? Is the pentium-m basically a chip without the intel lan package which is required in order to get the centrino approval?
I've found a couple of quite new second-hand laptops. Is it ok to considers these types or should I stay away from them because of the warrenty services.
The laptops are:
1. Toshiba Satellite Pro TE2100 P4 @ 1.7 - price A$ 1800 (is this one a p4-m model or normal p4?)
2. Toshiba Satellite 3000 PIII ? - price A$ 1000
3. Dell Centrino D600 P-m @ 1.3 - price A$ 2350
I was considering the first one, but that's because I belive the second one already has a buyer and I would like to limit my price to below A$ 2000 if I can.
Thanks for any info. I would really appreciate it.
