I've got a old Atari Airborne Avenger cabinet that is gutted out expect for
the HUGE transformer and Caps.....What should i do with it since i want to
take the cabinet to the edge of the curb? What would be the proper way of
disposing of this thing? What do you guys usually do?

Thanks,

There are no hazardous materials, per se, in either that transformer or
caps. Just toss them in the recycle bin since the metal can be melted down.

You don't have the (for lack of a better term) Mexican junk guys running
around, do you?

In my area, if I want to get rid of anything metal, I just set it behind my
back fence but away from my trash. Usually gone within 12 hours. (Hey,
the junk guys provide a _service_ as far as I'm concerned!)

so far, I've gotten rid of my old water heater, furnace, dryer and washer
that way! :)

Meth-heads take anything metal, sell it to scrap dealers and use the
money to fund their habit.

Maybe. But these guys certainly don't look all strung out, they just look
poor. And I refuse to believe (because I know it isn't true!) that only
poor Mexicans are meth heads.

Not only that, but these guys work awfully long hours for drug addicts.
Have you ever seen their trucks?

I never said anything about race. Here in Oregon I think there are a
whole lot more white meth-heads than others. They are stealing
anything metal, including metal highway curbing and metal bridge
supports.

Yep, in my experience the Mexicans are about the hardest working folks
I've been associated with.
