Hello,
My new HP laptop has come with a dual voltage adapter. It's power cord says 7A 125V. In my country, the adapter will work fine(since it says 100-240V) but cord not. The cord of my old laptop is 10A 200-300V,so can i use my old cord with my new adapter?
Thanks.

Solution

It depends. It could be instantly catastrophic, or it could cause overheating that could take days or weeks to fail.

Sorry, one more question. I am curious to know what does happen when we use wrong Power cable or adapter? I mean, does it harm the adapter/cable/battery instantly in the form of burning something etc or it destroys slowly slowly by reducing the working capability?

Thanks.
