Athlon 64 FX has changed its pin config. to 939 pins. I am aware that when it was 940 pins, the processor required registered memory. Now that it has 939 pins, does it require registered memory? If so/not please tell me. It would also be nice for you to include a link documenting such a fact.

two things....

1, it does *NOT* require registered memory

2, did you even try to find out yourself? Tom's has probably 30 articles that refer to a 939 system with unregistered memory. You could have searched within Tom's site, anandtech, or anyother website about hardware........or even googled it.

I heard back in the days before 939 was final that 939 FX's would work in 940 boards, is that true?
