Optical Audio to Speaker Wire?

So I am broke and cannot afford to purchase an all new Blu-Ray Home Theater system with HDMI in or all the other bells and whistles. I do have a Sony BDP-370 and it allows for Optical Audio OUT but my Surround Sound is a Panasonic SC-HT670 and does not allow for Optical Audio IN.

SOOOO... is there a way for me to have surround sound come from the Blu-Ray player and transmitted through my sound system?
My sound system can play DVD in surround but not Blu-Ray and having gotten a new 60" LED for christmas it would be a shame to be stuck with DVD's and great sound.

well... what inputs does your sound system have? ...what outputs does the bdp have?

i believe there is a box which accepts hdmi signal and splices off sound with rgb/composite/component and sends the video to the tv with hdmi.

i think there may also be an optical to rgb/composite/component conversion box available on the market.
