Hey all, thanks for all the help with my numerous threads. I wanted to let you know what I ended up getting and get any feedback on things I should know etc...

Antec Sonata Case (world's quietest PC case)
Antec TruePower 380W PSU
ABIT AI7 mobo
Intel Pentium 4c Northwood - 3.2GHz @ 800MHz FSB
BFG-Tech's Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 256mb
1GB RAM (2x 512mb Corsair CMX-Pro CL2 PC3200, the ones with the "blinky lights" )
Seagate SATA 160GB HD 7200rpm 8mb cache
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Internal
Logitech Z-680 5.1 500watt surround sound speakers
19" Viewsonic G90FB
Pioneer DVR-108 16x/4x-DL DVD Burner
Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0 optical w/tilt wheel
Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard

How does that look to all you "pros" out there? I will be using the computer for internet browsing and word processing only. Will this be enough?

Calm down, just kidding. Using it for video editing & games.

Thanks guys again for all the help,

Dan

Looks great to me except one thing.

I would get a case that has Intel approved air duct <A HREF="http://www.casedge.com/tower_3GTS-02.html" target="_new">like this</A>

<A HREF="http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/sb/CS-008537.htm" target="_new">For more info about Intel apprvoed chassis click here</A>

The psu is borderline, so think about getting something a little bigger.
The intel stock hsf for that chip is noisy, in a whiney sort of way, so I would change it.
Nice setup over all. You should be very happy.

Perhaps you want RAID 0 or a WD Raptor 10,000rpm sata drive for video encoding to knock off a few minutes off encoding time? that P4 3.2ghz should be right and if you dont like the noise get a replacement HSF or use a fan controller to quiet it down, otherwise great.

Won't be noisy if he use that Intel approved chassis, I know this from experience.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will check into a bigger PSU & better HSF when I have some more $$. How many watts do you recommend? Who should I buy a HSF from? And Peteroy, do you work for Intel?

Nope I just trust Intel a lot, they have recommendations on a lot of things in their website.

I have a Prescott 2.8E with Intel mobo and Intel recommended chassis and it never goes beyond 50c on load.

The Intel heatsink is high quality and you should know that you lose your warranty if you use 3rd party heatsink.
