This is what happens I am afraid, when a laptop becomes so old laptop company`s fail to update there driver sets to support a new OS. Its very strange though because if the laptop is dual core cpu solution you would expect 64bit drivers.

It's actually against forum rules for anyone to hijack a thread.
@Groenjan: you might be able to get the drivers for everything from each manufacturers website, but dell does make it hard to do merely because of the Notebook System Software and the Chipset drivers are usually unique to their computers ( I worked in their tech support for 3 1/2 years)
