ir beam problems (m515 and handspring)

I can beam from my Visor Deluxe to my m515 fine, buy I can't do it the other
way without getting an error. Usually like 'beam interrupted make sure the
devices are in range and aligned'.

I have tried soft resetting the m515, and turning down the lights to reduce
any infrared interference. I have checked the common sense stuff like beam
receive on, full battery, different ranges, enough free memory. I also tried
different size files between 5k and 300k.
