CPU Installation problem

Hey guys I just got me an AMD Athlon Barton XP 3200+ for my system which includes a Shuttle AN35N-Ultra Motherboard supports up to 400mhz FSB.

So I install my chip today, it's a retail one with fan and all and I keep running into the same problem. I'll install it and it shows AMD Athlon XP 1100+ I'm like ok np just need to change FSB so I go into Bio change it from like 100 to 133 bam! My computer shuts off and a red light next to where my power supply connects into my bored lights bright and the only way I can run my computer again is to take out the back power supply to outlet wire and back in again, clear cmos, then start again. I'll try running it in diff fsb again, ok this time I got it up to amd athlon xp 1900+. Few seconds in, computer shuts off, red light glows. I even try to start my computer at it's default/failsafe mode at amd athlon xp 1100+. After windows starts to load, bam! Shuts down again.

So I'm posting this on my old amd athlon xp 2400+ looking for some help, thx much. Any help is appreciated.

I take it when you say it shutsdown, its a hard shutoff (powers off immedeitaly?) Do the fans and such still spin, or does everything shut off except that power light?

What kind of power supply do you have right now? Whats the rest of your system look like? Your not overloading the powersupply are you?

It's a hard shut off. All fans, lights, power supply, all off. Only thing that is lit is the CPU overheat light and another green mobo LED(which is always on anyways). I seriously doubt I'm abusing the power supply as it's a 500watt one.

My system running right now is:
Shuttle AN35N-Ultra Mobo
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1gb of PC-2700 Ram
80gb Western Digital HD 7200rpm
GeForce FX 5600 256mb Video Card.

500 watts doesn't mean much. I had a 400 watt fail in only 4 days, and it went to the trash. What brand is it?
