Windows 7 close programs so they do not turn on automatically

where is the system configure utility in windows 7 so you can control which programs start up?

click on the start pearl, and in the search bar type: msconfig

type in the start menu 'msconfig' and go to the startup tab.

It can be also done through registry editing

Run>regedit

Delete the unwanted entries

System wide:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Per user:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Also check your Startup folder
Start Menu>All Programs>Starup
