My rig:

2500+ overclocked to 3200+ Nforce2 mobo
FSB = 200/400 with 512mb memory in sync
Radeon 9500 softmodded to 9700 overclocked past 9700 pro

I score 5542 in 3dmark03 :( I read about people scoring in the 7's and even one guy in the 9000 range. Why cant I be that fast...

Rome:Total War is coming out and I wanna be faster :( This setup used to be so fast now its not.

Im done complaining.

Maybe ill just give in and shell out for the 6800gt

Hey, thats not that bad actually. I have an asus nforce2 mobo, 2400+ oc'ed to 2.2 and a 9600xt with 768mb ddr333 and I score 4200, so youree not that bad actually. But my new rig, 2500+mobile oc'ed to 2.4ghz with a 6800GT and 1g kingston hyperx pc3200, I score 10,900, so the 6800gt will make a HUGE difference.

ha, funny yyou mention the HSF, you mustve read my other post about cpu shutdown...

hehe.

another reason ill go vid card is because the 939 socket cpu's are too expensive, while the 754s arent made anymore. why buy whats not made anymore since fx's, if price ever dropped, wont fit.

oh but wait the 6800gt agp is being phased out to pci express. oh great another piece of hardware that wont be compatible soon.

I HATE COMPUTERS

heya ohnoesaz:

You can relax AGP isnt going to be phased out as quickly as you might think, it will be around for the minimum of 1 year from now, and likely 2 years from now, even for the high performance series cards. They havent even reached the potential of 8xAGP yet, were all still waiting.

That score is what you're supposed to get with that config...

The closest I had to 7000 was a 7022 with my 9800Pro->XT (makes a difference...memory timings) @ 471/381 w/ Cat 4.8, so is there is little chance of a 9700Pro getting there easily. However, I know 7000 is reachable for a 9700Pro with *amazing* cooling, but for a 9500 softmodded, absolutely no way. 9000 is BS (on normal settings...if you want a TRULY worthless BHM, drop the res and detail to the minimums).

If you want more performance (you do have a good system as is), get the GT, best high-end bang for the buck right now.

Try Aquamark3 and see what you get. Compare it against like PC's on-line.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

LOL that was wierd. Ok what i did was installed the lastest drivers the other night the one with the new Catalyst Control Panel. I guess Future Mark didnt like that program that much. So i uninstalled it and installed the newer one without the new control panel and ran 3DMark03 again and (Drum Roll...............) 5597. Hehe im alot happier now.
