Hot Athlon 64?

I just installed an A64 3400 (2.4 ghz version) in my system, but my cpu temprature seems excessive - about 50 C at idle, with a stock cooler running at 3500 rpm. I have sufficient case ventilation and have overclocked only the video card.

What do A64's run at typically? Is this a problem others have experienced too?

Thanks

What is the temp of you`r case ?

Looks like intel spent more on bribing reviewers to cover up it aint that great than they did in R&D.
Tom also has money from intel.

seems high. My 2800+ idles at around 35ish depending on room temp.
But the difference in clock speed between my chip and yours is alot 1.8 < 2.4 So i'm not quite sure.
Where are you getting these readings from? If it's the bios, than try using a 3rd party program to check for you.

Watch out for the <b><font color=red>bloody</font color=red></b> Fanboys!

AMD64 2800+ :: MSI Neo-Fis2r :: 512mb Kingmax ddr400 :: Sapphire 9800pro 128mb :: 10K WD Raptor

Addicted, finally.

Did you get the MSI K8N board? It has a bios upgrade to correct the sensor reading.
My A64-3200, idles at 34c, and it's clocked to 3.45, with stock cooler, so your temps are high.
