Could anyone give me some input on the Intel P4 3.0 Ghz 800MHz FSB)Socket 478 Processor. I found a barebones system that is all new parts( Processor, 512RAM, Motherboard, Case, 400W Fan. I have been with an old P3 550 for so long that all this new technology is overwhelming. At $339.00 for all of this, and the fact that I have the other few things that I would need sounds great. I have found in the past that when something sounds to good to be true, it usually is. Can someone give me some input. Is there something wrong with this model Processor?

Nothing wrong with either version of that processor.

If you have the option (in terms of whatever distributor you're using for this purchase), try to get a D stepping chip.

If you mean the 3.0 Prescott, that means

Not a huge difference, but if there is no price difference and you have an option...

I'm just your average habitual smiler =D

The MOBO is a Foxconn P4 655A01-FX-6LRS. They dont say who makes the RAM, but it is a 512 mb DDR 2700 which I am not crazy about. I was going to see if they would talk about working some kind of deal on better RAM.
