Advice for DC Jack Replacement

Hi Everyone,
I have an old Gateway Solo 1450 in my drawer that needs a DC power jack replacement. The battery is shot and I cannot charge it with the way the jack is right now. How exactly would I change the jack? Are there any special tools that I would need to complete this task?
I've built desktops before, but I've worked on very few laptops. Any help is appreciated.

Take a look at the thread at the top of the forum on how to take apart a laptop. From there, you'll need to acquire a new power jack. A good place to start looking is here:
