Currently I own a Kodak Easyshare DX3900. It has a 2x optical zoom. I have found that this is not enough zoom.

The Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 looks like it will serve my purposes.

I'll be taking pictures from a tourist boat to items of interest on the shoreline or near the shore.

Also I like taking pictures of dragsters at the starting line when they do wheelies, smoke their tires etc...

I'll be taking pictures of static items in most cases. I have a video camera to take motion pictures.

My question is the Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 the best choice for me or are there better choices that cost about the same (+US$75) and have a 10x - 12x zoom?

Check out the Canon PowerShot S1 IS (~US$100 less at Newegg) - It gives you image stabilization which is great if you're using the 10x zoom in low light conditions.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I believe that the Konica has more features that justify the $100 price differential so I'm still leaning towards the Konica.
