I am looking for a Windows equivalent of the current 2010 MacBook Pro but at a 800-900 U$D price range.

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html

I am also open to other suggestions.

This laptop would not really be used for heavy gaming but a good support for some 3D games would be nice considering the budget is around $ 800.00

I am having a hard time finding something like this:

core i3 330m (or even a core i3 430m) with at least an nvidia 320m graphics chip for a Windows laptop.

Thanks for the recommendations but too bad my aunt only wants to get stuff from brick store.

Do you guys have any idea if a laptop that has at least a core i3 330m and a discrete GPU (such as a 4250HD ati) automatically has a feature that can switch GPU activity? Example: If you just watch 1080p Videos in Youtube, the core i3s GPU activates and the discrete de activates. Something like that.

there you go. core i3 350m, HD 5650, a penny under 800, and at a brick and mortar store! Just hope you live near one, as Microcenter isn't everywhere like Best Buy.

thanks for the recommendation but too bad we dont have a microcenter near us. I am almost ready to give up and tell her that she should find someone else to help her. I hate deciding on what laptop to get since there are crazy deals going around. I'd be pissed of if I find out that I bought my laptop for 800 bucks and found a 650 deal for it. The laptop is so confusing. Harder than choosing desktop pcs

Hmm... Try this then. The graphics card is not quite as good, but it does do the automatic graphics switching thing that you wanted (currently only offered by the nVidia Optimus system).

Um... if that link doesnt work, go on Best Buy's website, -> Computers -> Laptops -> Asus. It's the only $750 laptop on the list i think. Model UL80J-BBK5.

Ouch! Thanks again for the recommendation sidewinderx2 but for 750$, I get a 1.2 Ghz version of an i3 :(

I also heard Optimus is still not good and sometimes does not switch on or off properly. Man.. but yeah thanks.. I need some divine intervention today to find a decent laptop..

so far a Samsung that has an i3 330m and a bluray player for 679 USD caught my eye.. but it looks too dirty and cheap :(

Yeah :/  if you stick to brick and mortar stores, you're pretty much screwed on price/performance. The i3 that it uses is one of those Ultra Low-voltage i3 processors, so the speed is indeed pretty crap... thats the price you pay for the 8-10h battery life tho.

So how about this?

Better processor, same graphics card.
