Will I Adjust to 16:9?

Hello Community,

I've got an awful dilemma and I need help! I've been gaming at 1680 x 1050 (16:10) for the past 5 years and now I'm shopping for a new display. Almost everything on the market is 16:9. I get a terrible vibe from gaming at that aspect ratio. I bought an Acer 23" 1080p LED monitor and returned it because it felt awkward and frustrating to use. However, that may have been due to the LED backlight or matte finish which I'm also not used to. In fact, when I look in stores, I'm amazed at how crappy the displays look these days. I'm currently looking at an older monitor, the HP w2207, which is glossy and 16:10. There's a much newer version of this screen, the HP 2310m available to me at a great price but it's 16:9. My question is, if I switch to 16:9, will I ever adjust? Has anybody here switched from 16:10 to 16:9 and been happy/unhappy? Am I crazy?

Thanks!

Yes, you will.

I had 1680x1050 and prefered 16:10.

But there was basically no good 1680x1050 monitors out there so I bough 1920x1080 (16:9) instead.

No I prefer 16:9 over 16:10 big time. There is a reason why movies are far wider than 16:9. The human looks more horizontally than vertically. Also for games many developers doesnt even support 16:10 any more.
It is not the hardware, it is the player that matters.

My gaming ability on my game rig, my laptop is very similar, even if I hop onto an unfamiliar computer during parties, I adapted quickly and the awkwardness is gone in like 5 minutes.

Just concentrate on the game.
