Displaying programs on TV

I recently bought a netbook with an HDMI port. I tried to connect it to my TV (HDMI-HDMI) but I am getting only the audio. I was able to get video once after reset but it is hanging up. Is it the HDMI cable that needs to be changed or is there something else that is required.

You need to tell the netbook to use the HDMI output for video.
