I have a p4p800 se mbd with 2.8Ghz prescott cpu,
512Mb DDR400, ati Radeon9600 pro.

the problem i have is that my pc takes very long when it restarts or is being switched on.

It takes about 5minutes to get to the logon screen.

Can anybody please tell me what to do, or what is wrong.

Thanx

When was the last you formatted? Tried swapping IDE cables yet (To make sure you don't have a bad cable giving you problems)?

Run a virus scan lately?

Is the screen just staying black for 5 minutes, or is it taking ages somewhere in the POST sequence (e.g. scanning for RAID drives)?

well it starts up shows scanning the ram, drives.
that takes reasonably long.

Then it gives me a black screen and after a while windows xp shows it is loading.

Shortly after that i can login at the logon screen.

If your HDD is a western digital IDE, then run it master without the jumper. Unless it has a slave...

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!
