Hi All
I have a 30 watt florescence light, and the starter just seems to be be
trying all the time, the light flickers but won't turn on, I verified
both the bulb and starter in another working socket, my question is
does this represent a bad ballist? Or is there any other thoughts on
what might be the problem? Thanks

Yes, I have switched bulbs, so I just wanted to make sure there wasn't
something else to look at before I buy a new ballast. Thanks for the
info. Nice website by the way, very cool items! Thanks again.

Not sure about the US but it sounds like the starter and not the
ballast. Make sure you have the correct starter for a 30W tube. In
Australia we have 2 types of starters, a 4-22W and 4-65W or 4-80W.
Sometimes if you try to use a 4-65W starter to ignite a 18W tube it
will not work even though it is classified as a universal starter and
covers that wattage range. A 4-22W starter is what should be used. In
your case, make sure you use a brand new 4-65W starter for your 30W
tube and also change the tube at the same time. I know you said that
you tested it but get a brand new tube and starter and have another go.
After that check that the tubes pins are seated correctly in the
tombstones (lampholders).

May have the wrong starter in it. If it needs a FS4 and has a FS2 in there,
it will flicker like crazy.
