Help me choose a netbook

I'm thinking about getting a netbook, but have no ideia which one I should choose. I already have a gaming rig, so this netbook is mainly for study (programming in NetBeans, Visual Studio, etc) and web surfing. I'm planning on watching 720p movies and using the webcam for video-conference. Do you think a netbook is able to do those things well?

Money is not an issue (since netbooks arent very expensive), so i'd rather a 12' screen.

No manufactor preference.

Can you guys help me?
If is there any other information that could be helpful please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

  1. the asus (eee pc) netbooks are built the best imo.
look for an atom cpu, win7, and 1gb ram or more.

    expensive but good:

    a bit cheaper:

and if you want to buy a used one i no longer need mine :) asus eee pc 900hd 900mhz celeron
  2. Acer Aspire One 521 with 2010 AMD Neo cpu and 4225 gpu kills atom based netbooks in performance, only 5-6 hours battery life though instead of 8 hours +. The 721 model has an 11.6" screen.

I did some research and found some dual core netbooks. What is better, Atom Z520 or Athlon Neo X2? (Battery is no issue if it last more than a couple of hours). Should I consider Atom N330? (it seems that this processor is near the end of his life)

I'm definetly looking for dual-core netbooks.

Is there any big difference between Intel UMA, Ati HD3200 and Nvidia Ion? are they able to play 720p videos?

    thanks again for the help!
  4. intel graphics tend to be the worst. avoid them if possible.
