Im building a new rig and was curious what others thought about this choice. Im not a big gamer just play online games occasionally. Right now im planning on getting a AMD 64 3000 and a regular 6800. Would I see a huge jump in performance from upgrading the CPU to 3200?

If i upgraded both (GT and 3200) it would cost 150 US dollars more....not a lot but if there wouldnt be that great a boost for me then id rather just save $150.

Thanks for all the help

I'm not sure what you mean by "online games," if your talking like... flash games then I think that the 6800 GT is overkill and you could save even more money by getting a cheaper video card. There isn't a huge boost between the 3000+ and the 3200+, and you could pocket the 150 and do a slight overclock to make up the difference if it concerns you that much. The performance boost you will see isn't worth $150 in my opinion.

AMD 64 3400+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
1 GB Kingston HyperX PC3200
6800 GT
WD Raptor 74GB

I think he's talking about online mulitplayer games, because flash games would run perfectly on a 300Mhz CPU

I have a 3000 754 slot with 1 gig of ram.
the sucker flies in all games, concentrate on the video card, you have the technology already in the chip, .2 ghz isnt going to be noticable.

Ya, I was hoping that, but the way he said it just made it seem like he was playing "just some crappy online game," at least that's the way I interpreted it. The GT is awesome though, you should love it.

yeah, sorry meant games such as WoW or EQ2. Thanks for the help so far.

Do you think that the difference between a 6800GT and 6800 will be that noticeable in an online multiplayer game? I think i will just stick with a amd 64 3000.
