Hello everyone, I am currently seeking to replace my Acer tavelmate 8202 that I've been using extensively for the last 4 years. I am a student on the end of my studies and I also like to play games (although theoretically i will play less and less in future).
I was considering buying the macbook pro 15" with 500GB(7200) HD which actually costs around 2100 euros for students. Basicly this is my max price but I know I probably get better and cheaper with something running on windows.
1_What is your budget?
2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
3_What screen resolution do you want?
Higher the better (for games)
4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Portable as I use my laptop everyday at school
5_How much battery life do you need?
Same higher the better, this is one of the reasons I was considering a Mac which can last a whole day of school
6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
I just recently bought Starcraft 2 which doesnt run very good on my Acer lol.. The cinematic look like Halflife 1 on my Acer and the game just lags a lot. But I know that the Macbook pro can run SC2 quite smoothly
7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.)
Web browsing, photoshop, some video editing
8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
apple store europe for mac other i don't know
10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
i kept my acer for 4 years so i'd like to keep my new one about the same amount of time
11_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
I'm quite interested to try a Mac, although I have never had one. A lot of friends have switched to it and don't really regret it.
I had some problems on my Acer (had to install a clear version of windows as the apps they include when you buy the pc made it crash all the time) but in the end it did run good for more 4 years
13_What country do you live in?
14_Please tell us any additional information if needed.
Although I have never had a Mac, i really want to try it out. My only concern is that i could probably get something better for much cheaper on windows but i don't really know what is on the market right now.
Could you please help me compare? and also tell me your thoughts on the Macbookpro 15". Also do you know when the new macbook pro are comming out? Is it worth waiting?
