Forum Windows 7 : General Discussion Help me troubleshoot slow data transfer

Hello all,

Having issues with transferring data from my HD Camcorder to my pc. I need to find out what the cause is. First problem is that when I connect my camcorder via USB it locks up my system.. only works on one usb port on the back of the system. All the USB ports work fine for other devices (digital camera, flash drives, external hard drives, etc...)

Once I finally manage to plug it in and start transferring data it only transfers data at 5.63 MB/s.. this seems a little slow for USB 2.0.

Issue:
1# why does it lock up on the other USB ports?

error in event viewer when this happens:

The SD card you are using is limited to a 6mbyte/s which would explain the 5.6mb/s speed. In order to reach USB 2.0 full speeds you need a Class 45 or 40 SD card (also referred to as 300x and 266x)
