All along the night, winter is coming and the breeze is dancing their way into your house. Pop in the Intel P4, the passion of paradise will return to your blood. The amazing P4 will shine brillantly like the radiate sun. The temperature in your room will make you sweat and it's time for the short and bikini to come out and play. If you wanted to feel the heat and party in the sun, then the P4 is for you.

Considering that the A64 3000+ is cheaper than a 3GHz Prescott (here in Montréal), that the A64 3000+ score respectably well in most of benchmarks (<A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2242" target="_new">See Anandtech review</A> to see how good it did against a 3.6GHz Prescott) and that the Socket 939 90nm version has a lot of overclocking headroom (2.6GHz on stock cooling and voltage), I see no reason why someone who is not an Intel fanboy would go for a P4.

Hell, even a Mobile Barton can easely be overclocked beyond 2.4GHz on air (see my sig and <A HREF="http://bit-tech.net/review/309/1" target="_new">Bit-Tech's FX-53 review</A>), making it a wonderfull CPU that can stand its ground against Intel's bleeding edge, unavailable and ridiculously overpriced P4s.

Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 2.5GHz (217MHz x 11.5)
Abit NF7-S V2.0
2x 512MB of Samsung TCC4
Sapphire Radeon 9700 128MB @ 360/310
2x Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM RAID-0

In the house, nothing was stirring, not even a mouse. There a hollow void in your life and there seem to be a black hole sucking at your lonely life. Your felt, you need a friend in order to begin your happy day. There some thing missing in your life.
Just pop in the P4 and your sugar high life will fly. The P4, with its unbearable noise will become your friend. The P4, will talk to you and keep your day full of noise. Even during your bed time, it will sing you to death because the voice of the P4 is so clear and precisely loud.
If you are lonely and need a friend, then the P4 is for you. Also the P4 is so loud, the neighbor might call the cop for noise disturbance. Then you have more friend, as you are taken to jail and all thanks to your friend, the P4.

What the X man is saying is to get a P4 if you live in whateverthecapitalcityis Alaska, and have no central heating, or if you are so lonely that the extreme noise of the P4's hsf would bring you some comfort.
Personnaly, I think that if your main perpose is to use those select few programs where Intel shines, you may want a P4, otherwise, the A64 is the way to go.
What do you use your computer for?

The 3.0C is hellaciously good and not loud at all. The Prescott is hotter and louder. I still would go for a socket 939 A64 right now. They are just faster!

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

Is it a gaming rig? If so get the A64 and a good video card. If not you could go with either one.

ABIT IS7, P4 2.6C, 1GB Corsair XMS 4000 Pro Series, Radeon 9800 Pro, Santa Cruz, TruePower 430watt
