Hi,
I need to buy a CD drive. Which one should I get ? Whats the difference between a CD and CDRW and DVD and DVDRW. Its all so confusing. Hope people here are not as ignorant as the graphics section. Please keep answer short.

CD-RW: Reads CD and writes CD
DVD-ROM: Reads CD, DVD
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo: Reads CD, DVD and writes CD
DVDRW: Reads CD, DVD and writes CD, DVD

We're not ignorant, you just wanted the impossible in the graphics section.

BTW, there is a CDROM section too.

Why would anybody need a CDRW or a DVDRW, because I can write on a CD or DVD with a pen or pencil. Why waste money to buy a machine to write on it ? So basically I think I need a CD drive and I can do all things I want.

Why would you need a cd drive. Can't you read the cds yourself? You can already write on them.

first :go buy a blank cd-r

second :make a startup floppy disk

third :write on cd-r windows-xp (make sure and use ball point pen)

forth :reboot with floppy disk and at command promt (that is the a: for all idiots that dont know that!) format c:

fifth: put in new windows xp cd and reinstall xp (all your problems will be solved)
