Hi there,
I'm trying to repair an Addams Family Pinball, and I wonder If you could
help me.

1. I found an item inside the pinball and I don't know if it belongs to
the TAF pinball or not. I took a picture of it:
http://www.lesid.net/picpin1.jpg

2. There is a plug I don't know where I should connect. I took a picture
as well:
http://www.lesid.net/picpin2.jpg

3. The bookcase base is cracked. How should I proceed to change it? I
tried by I was not sure how to start. Any detailed direction would help
a lot.

4. What kind of rivet should I use for the "To open the bookcase..."
plastic?

Thank you very much for your help!

#1 - it's part of the tilt bob assy to the left inside the coin door. It
should be behind a small PCB that the coin door plugs into

#2 is a wire and plug for 1 of the 3 magnets for TAF, which is missing from
your game.

I'm not sure on 3 or 4, sorry

That's your tilt plumb-bob! You can of course play without it, but
if you want to put it back where it belongs, there should be a small
bracket with a hole in it on the left side of the cabinet. It hangs
from there and suspends the weight in the middle of the hole in a
larger bracket. You can adjust the sensitivity by moving the weight
up an down on the hanger rod.

Looks like you may be missing a magnet (and had another one burn at
one point...) for the "Power". Again, the game will be playable
without it, but if you must have your game be "complete" then you
will have to track one down. Good luck with that, looks like you
may need the bracket as well.

Sorry, don't have an Addams, someone else will have to advise.

Can you just use a small screw and nut? Tubular rivets are available,
but then you will probably have to invest in a setting tool, which
seems excessive for one rivet...

In addition to the previous comments, I would recommend that you add
individual fuses for the 3 magnets. It is very common for one magnet
(usually the upper left) to get stuck "on" and burn the playfield. You can
google the rec.games.pinball group for more info on this. Its an easy fix,
while fixing the playfield burn is not. -Riles

Toni,

I just replaced my bookcase. You can get the replacement parts, the
case and cover from:
http://bayareaamusements.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=GS-TAF

It's a simple repair with two philips screws holding each the cover and
bookcase in place.

Also, if you do not have the manual, download it from here:

http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=addams&search=Search+Database&searchtype=quick#20

Good luck,

Tom

Hey, Thank you (John, Bob, Marius, Riles) very much !!!
#1 is already fixed.
I'll think I'll manage #3 and #4
But #2 really worries me... I guess I can get the magnet, I see the
place where it should be placed, but still I don't know where could I
get the bracket! And then, I don't know the connections...
I'll check the fuses thing.
Thank you again to you all

Toni,

You can get the magnet from Steve Young at Pinball Resource....I don't
have his number handy, but google for Pinball Resource.... it should come
up....or anyone else here that has any... I am sure if someone reading this
thread has one, they will offer you one.....just mention you need the
bracket and mounting hardware as well... good luck

Toni,

Look at the Bookcase assembly in the manual on page 2-29. This will
make it very clear for you. Let me know if I can help with anything
else.

So I don't have to take the whole mounting bracket off? I'll check it
again. Thank you very much.
