I building a computer for a freind and he wants to do a lot of photoshop work.I wasnt sure if i should go with a 3.0c a A64 3200+ or a P4 530?

They all do fine...he'll spend more time thinking at his drawing than waiting for the cpu...give him plenty of ram to overcome virtual memory and fast HDD..that where performance is lost...

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

Intels processors multitask much better than AMD's.
It depends on how your work.

There really is no one best all around processor, both AMD and Intel excel in different areas.
Gaming is ruled by AMD, video and multitasking is pwnt by Intel.
Some cases, the split can be down the middle, it is up to you to decide.
I think Photoshop users would be leaning more towards Intel, yet, politically, towards AMD...
