the 10000 rpm hard drive is for the os the 300 for video encoding and everything else

just want your opinion on the setup and if there is anything that should be changed.

i would like to get a water cooling system but i never used one before and i want one inside the case.

i can get a bigger case to accomodate this i just do not know much about water cooling

don't gat the vanilla 6800 - get the GT as these can o/c to ultra specs.

Get the 78(ish) GB version of the Raptor as these are faster and support command queing

yes wait for the nforce4 it will rape the nforce3

go with the NEC DVD-RW, it performs better and has a faster write speed (only $3 more)

if u can spend $70 def go with the 74 gig version of the rapter.

go with the 6800GT (need pci-e if u getting nforce4) it is much better than the 6800nu.

lastly, if u want to spend less on the cpu get a A64 3000+ and get a REALLY good hsf. those 3000+ can o/c to about 2.4 (4000+) with stock hsf. so u should b able to get even higher than that.

Stick the 6600GT PCI-E card in your NForce-4 board. Down the road you can add a second one if desired. The 6600GT damn near as fast as 6800.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

It varies depending on the board manufacturer. They use varying PCIE x16 and x1, etc slots, all PCI-E slots are not created equal.

The 6600GT damn near as fast as 6800.

faster in some situations.

i THINK there was a review showing 2-6600gt's being slower than a single 6800gt tho...
