I wanted to see what people thought about 27" screens. I can either get a 1920x1080 (£220) or 2560x1440 (£380).

Is it worth splashing out for the 2560x1440. I'm going to be building a new computer to go with the screen (used mainly for gaming) and I'm worried that 2560x1440 will tax even my new computer... (i'm going to spend about £800 on the new PC...)

Well the price per pixel slightly favors the 1440p one, and it's also one hell of a resolution for sure. You don't need to game on 1440 though, you can play on 1080p or whatever your computer allows you.

Based only on resolution I say get the 1440p one.

i'd get 2560x1440...since the screen is 27"...image quality will be better...

on the downside, when you game..u might not get as many fps since the graphic card will have to work harder due to the increased pixels...

but i'd still get the question.

Thanks very much guys, I think you're right, I'll go with the 2560x1440.
Am buying a new PC with 2 6870's in crossfire, so hopefully it will be playable on that resolution.

But as you say, even if not, can always scale down - therefore get the option of playing higher if the game is less intensive.
