Computer power supplies

Hello everybody,

I recently changed computers for editing & mastering and found there's this random buzz in the audio that I never had previously. I got new converters recently, only to realize that the noise is still there, but much lower in level. It comes and goes at random and can only figure it's the computer's power supply. What do you suggest for a power supply that's both acoustically and electronically quiet?

Any ideas on another source of the problem?

Thanks a lot.

When you say buzz, about what frequency? Low, like 120Hz, or high pitched?

If it is low pitched then it is not likely the power supply. Power supplies use ultrasonic frequencies so the the transformers can be very small. It is more likely an issue with a poorly shielded audio cable near an AC cable, or a bad power supply in your speaker system.
