Headphones, recorder (topfield) Samsung tv

headphones, recorder (topfield) Samsung tv ... which audio outlet to use, have tried all cant get it work. tv soundok but not thru headphones. this ha been working, alldismantled to lay new carpet granddaughter thought she had set it up but no sound. waiting for other family members to sort it out. cant wait, need to watch & listen to recordings. any suggestions?
