here u will find intel spec numbers from whch u can find out ur CPU's Stepping lik C0/D0/E0

the latest cpus have E0 as ther stepping and accordint to this article in THG...http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20041115/pentium4_570-07.html
its important to select the right "stepped" CPU.The 3.8GHz 570 has E0 stepping.

But my problem is wht do earlier steppings stand for..wht do they mean..and ascending ones always better(E0 better than D0)?

Usually the highest the stepping, the better are the core!

CPU steppings introduces improvments to the core silicon. Often this translate into less heat, new features, "bug fixes" or improved performance in certain condition. So, if you have the choice, always get the latest core.

Intel still list old core, because they often don't switch their production from one stepping to another in 1 day in all their facility, they make it progressively, it is why you can buy different stepping of the same chip until the supply of the older stepping last.

Some online stores list the specific stepping of their in-stock core, because they know that overclocker's, "geeks" and hardware enthousiats wants to buy the latest or a specific stepping.
