Last response: in Windows 7

So then figured i'm outa options aside from this or going to a shop and paying $150 and not having my PC for a week.....Anyway as title says computer has massively slowed down lately, Thought it was a virus at first so ran malware bytes, Nada so i tried MSE, Again negative (made sure to turn off MSE after as i KNOW MSE is a cpu hog), So i ran an avira, Still nothing, Tried disk cleanup, defrag, and a error check, Again still slow, Even cleaned the inside of my case to see if THAT was the problem still no.

So at this point i'm pretty much at a loss shy of a brand new windows install (which i would prefer to not do if avoidable due to having nothing to back up files save for the most important ones I.E tax records pictures ect ect.)

Here is a copy of my dxdiag

start with the simple debug first. check the free space on your hard drive if it low windows cant make a good swap file. try running ccleaner and freeing up some space. then running defrag or defragler. check that your not running two anti virus or two malware software. look at your add/remove programs for fake software or add in bars that are taking up memory but not doing anything. use msconfig and turn everything off in start up but your anti virus and see if your pc runs better. you can also run smart test on the hard drive and vendor test to check the drive itself. most times when a work pc or a home pc is slugish and there not a hardware issues most times it a damaged registry or files from use. sometime it better to back your data up off the pc and format and reinstall windows. or if there a restore cd runing it and putting the system back to a fresh start.

+1 to CCleaner, I've used it to really help a couple older pc's for friends & relatives.

MSE is not a cpu hog.
Anyways....
Have you tried firing up task manager to watch any processes/background programs start to hog up RAM/CPU resources?

Windows will allow you to do a "non-destructive" re-install, that takes all your old data and puts it in a Windows.old folder on a new install. I think it keeps all the standard user locations, but you could put a copy of all your important stuff in a folder on the desktop just in case.

Weird everytime i use it it hogs 90%+ of my CPU and idles at 25-40%....

Anyway i have fired up TM and even used admin to see all processes and hand checked eachone useing the google on my phone just to see if they were a virus, Even checked what directory they were in, none were, only 3 are over 10k, Firefox.exe DWM.exe and explorer.exe, checked ram and it's not going above 22% usage at all.

Tried all the above already, again nothing, Hell even the avira boot disk which normally fixes such problems didn't do anything even with an updated copy from a clean PC (laptop i got 2 weeks ago and which i only connected to the web for the first time when i got my boot disk updated)

i may try this as a last ditch attempt then, Good to know this as i've never had this kinda problem with a PC since ***.....last one i had massive slowdowns on was my Toshiba laptop about 8-10 years ago right before the CPU gave out...

I got a pretty epic virus once that pretty much made my PC useless, in the middle of a semester long project, the non-destructive install saved my butt, I had to do it like 3 times in a row tho to get rid of the damn virus.

Are you seeing excessive drive activity during slow downs?
What about CPU usage?

Is "slow" long load times when the system loads new content, or is it slow during other things like scrolling in a browser or dragging a window around?

Try installing hwmonitor and/or cpuz to see if the CPU multiplier somehow got messed up in BIOS, or is getting throttled by heat, etc.

Also, as others said, running multiple antivirus programs can cause problems, make sure they aren't running (also make sure you disable them on the Startup AND Services tabs in msconfig when they shouldn't be active); even if they are idle, they will interfere with each other due to their real time protection functionality.

edit: As a last note, if your documents truly are important, I would suggest investing some money in an external hard drive (or even just a spindle of blank DVDs) and backing your data up now. It's entirely possible that your problem is a failing hard drive, that is barely limping along and about to fail. It's never a good idea to trust a single hard drive. (Even dropbox would be an acceptable backup method for a lot of things, but it's not really appropriate for something like tax records.)

It's slow all around, Loading scrolling ect ect.

I have CPUZ and went ahead and double checked it CPU is nice and steady at 29C went ahead and ramped my fan to max and dropped that to 21 to be safe GPU is at 37C ramped the fan up there as well and its now at 32, Also checked the multiplier and backed out and double checked in bios to be safe.

and as for anti-virus already have them disabled save for malware bytes and just checked and none are on, Also checked my boot window only things that boot are windows realtic HD audo, malware, CCC, browser config and adobe

Check my edit above :)  Although if scrolling is slow, it sounds like more of an execution issue (either SW/OS, or your CPU) than a hard drive failure, but still it's a good opportunity to back things up. Wasn't clear in your above posts if you disabled the AV services in the service tab, they load some lower level stuff prior to startup tasks usually)

This is looking like a hardware issue to me. Most likely a failing hard drive. With seagate hard drives (as your model number indicates yours is), I commonly see major slowdowns tied with a massive increase in reallocated sectors. There are a bunch of free applications that let your query SMART characteristics of hard drives, but I would personally recommend grabbing a HIRENS Boot CD, and using the SMART viewer on that. Look at the SMART attributes of Reallocated Sectors and Reallocation Events, and let us know what you see. If I'm right, you'll see huge numbers in one of those attributes.

Will do then give me about an hour or so to get everything set up and working right.

Ran seatools long test on my hard drive and the thing turned out fine no errors at all

Also ran crystal disk info and its all coming up green across the board, Temp is only 19C

so it looks like hard drive ain't the problem and more like its the OS or a rather nasty virus

Any SMART attributes? Reallocated sectors won't necessarily fail a drive. Crystal should have had the numbers available.
