My cousin had that p3 on the "world most crappy motherboard" and he asked me to kill his comp (He dont know [-peep-] in comps) so that his father will buy you another. I could not refuse.

So i try to just unplug the cpu fan and wait while running some heavy cpu programs but the damn thing wont get pass 75C even with no fan. Finally we decide to remove the heatsink while the comp is on full load. As he remove the heatsink he get burnt by it and the heatsink (Aero 7+(BIG [-peep-] heatsink)) fall on the videocard (radeon 7000) effectivly killing it while the cpu burn. The whole thing shut down. I hope his father beleive whatever story he is gonna make up...

What, the "Oh, I accidentally knocked over the cup of water that I had resting on the desk." trick isn't good enough anymore? And I suppose that flipping the input voltage switch on the power supply and then putting it back after frying the system isn't any good either? :\ At least you didn't throw a little baggie of metal shaving dust into the intake fan with the system running...

Is it still covered by warranty?

I'm sure they would buy you a pizza to cover the market value of the chip if it is. (Just make sure they don't ship the pizza Ground.)

If it were me, I'd see how high it would OC before it fried.

I would have given you a dead cpu. Friends don't let friends fry CPU's when chicken's available.

I don't know much about P3 boards, but when I was OCing my P2, it was just a matter of changing jumpers.

I sometimes forget that I'm conversing with children on this forum. I consider myself a PC savy old guy. I'm a father of two teenage sons. If my old PC suddenly "broke down" for no reason, I'd open it up to find out why. I'm sure I could discover the blatent vandalism performed. My son would do WITHOUT a PC in this case.

Before you celebrate destroying older equipment, consider what your parents have to do to pay for everything you do and own. Show some consideration. Treat your 'old man' like you will want to be treated by your son some day.

I'm such a nerd for cool new parts, I'd probably secretly like being given an excuse to upgrade.

'Course, if my Xeons died because my kid decided he needed new 3.4's instead of 3.06's, he'd probably find himself joining the military.

Hey, I was in the military, 8 years, 2 months, 15 days in the Army. Course, I didn't have to sabotage any pc parts to get in...dating a recruiter's daughter was my quick ticket to basic training.

If my daughter's computer ever gets so outdated that she sees a need to sabotage it, then shame on me.
Then again, she is running an xp2400+ with win98se, and has refused every attempt on my part to upgrade her.

I thought it was Intel mobo because it doesn't allow FSB, voltage adjustment.

OK so you did the fry , and your cousin asked you to do it ? I see commen sense DOESNT run in ur family .

Some of the older slot one P3's on the right mobo perform very well with the right video card .

I own 5 P4's , but still run an old 450 p3 on a Abit BE6 OC'd to 630mhz with a G2 ti video card . Runs really good for what it is .
December 8, 2004 10:37:28 PM

His mobo was real bad.....REAL bad....The p2 he got while waiting for his new comp give him more fps in CS with a weaker video card...

Memory writing/reading speed detected in aida32 was lesser than 80mb/s for BOTH read and write.
