Whilst installing Norton Internet Security 2010 to my Sony VGN-N31Z/W,via Windows Vista, requested to engage "My Computer" which does not exist on my system.

I don't really know what you're talking about - I've never heard of this occurring. However, a good solution is to not use Norton and get a free antivirus like Avast or AVG. Norton isn't any better than the freebees.
