Computer does't play sound

hellow there, i have an old computer running intel dq965gf mobo. recently, I upgraded it from windows vista 32bit to windows 7 64bit. i plugged the speakers in the right way, but the computer couldn't detect them. than i downloaded the driver for my mobo, and it showed like everything is working fine, but no sound came out. i've already tried different speakers and headphones. after searching on google i found that i may need SigmaTEL audio driver. so i downloaded it and tried to install after uninstalling the intel driver, but an error message came saying "device isn't present. restart your computer and try again. i restarted my pc and tried again, but the error message came again. does anyone knows how to solve it?
