If those are the DiamondMax 10 drives, those are 7200rpm, and 10,000rpm really helps with any sort of random read/write performance. They can read more small chunks of data per seond, because those chunks spin around and pass under the read head more frequently. (that would speed up tasks involving lots of small files or multiple simultaneous large files - maybe not games, games seem to just take however long they want to load levels regardless of hard drive speed.)Might wanna consider those new maxtor 10 series drives with 16MB cache. They are faster than the raptors and u'd get a lot more storage for your money.
I've also had people tell me they are quieter than the 36GB models. I got four of the 36GB models in my computer in Raid0, and it's pretty loud. Got that signature Western Digital Whine going on.and the 76GB raptor will ONLY give you more space
