Is it now officially "panic time" at Intel?

According to CNET Intel's unwilling to leave the 64 bit field to the gaming upstart and is pushing up its release date for it's own 64-Bit CPU. Is this another official indication that it's panic time over there?

15 months after x86-64 was launched, AMD just merely nibbled on Intel's cpu market dominance, no thanks to the delay of WinXP-64, AMD's limited production capacity, and diminished market demand.

But we can only see the stats as they are published, we'll never know how Intel's business minds interpret them and other industry data.

Looks that they'll accelerating some schedules but far from pushing the red button yet. With a 90-day inventory and no overwhelming performance thrashing from the competitor, Intel is not into a quicksand yet. Not yet.

When AMD launched 64 bit for desktop. Intel was in no hurry to match. Being that 64 bit is a waste now.But within the next two years should be widespread. Big reason Intel did not release 64 bit. Micro$ has no 64 bit OS yet.

They are definitely eating into Intel, and rightly so. Look where the respective stock prices have gone. That probably digs at Intel as much as anything.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot
