I am looking for info on the type of socket that will host the upcomming Intel dual core CPUs. Is it true that when this chip comes out, it will still use the 775 socket?

Nobody knows for certain yet. But it looks like current chipsets will support it, and that's a comprimise since you only have one memory controller.

Most likely you will need a new mobo at the least to take advantage of the performance increase of the proposed dual core chips, if they are compatable at all.

Last I checked they are useing independant memory controllers, one for each core.
