i accidently removed a part of this "heat pad" on the bottom of my boxed athlon 64 cpu cooler (see left lower corner). my question is now:
can i still use it? or do i have to remove the whole pad
and apply artic cooling (or similar). i do not overclock, it is an athlon 64 3500+
even if it was the whole pad I would still suggest taking it off and replacing it with Arctic Silver 5. Even if you don't do overclocking the as5 will help keep your CPU cooler and extend the life of the CPU. Cooler is always better.

Is it one of the new winchesters? If it is, you better return it, so it can go to an ocer, no point in having one of those if you aint ocing. OK so I'm kidding. Dont sweat that little scratch. If it is a 90 nano part, you could probably take off half of the TIM, without worry. If it's a 130 nano part, still no problem.
