My taxes are fubar. I owe $1850 on federal but get a $1750 state refund. I have to file a waiver from federal penalties for owing more than a grand. ARG!

$2772

Been one of those days. Shouldn't complain though. Still only 26%. I guess I got it down a percent or so with deductions.

I got mauled. I knew it was coming, but not this bad. Ouch is right. I did a rough calculation and figured it would be $1500. I never dreamed I'd owe more than that, PLUS $950 to the state.

1. I think I still claimed 2 withholdings since I was married in the begining of last year iirc. I filed single though. I got mauled last year for a grand as well by filing married but seperately. I still got money back though last year.

2. My income was variable. A majority of my income was bonuses and commission and my income kept increasing. My income in October before I left for Thailand was double what it was in January when the accounting dept must have setup my taxes. I don't know how it works, but something went wrong. I only worked 10 months so there was no consistancy in my taxes at all.

It's pretty brutal. If you owe over $1K they charge you penalties as well. I tried to get them waived but I think I still paid $28 in fees.

Oh well, I made more than $28 in interest off that $3K.

And I just got an earfull for missing my flight. I arrive in New Orleans at midnight and a cab costs $40 to get to my hotel. Then I have to get up at 6am. This blows. 6am in New Orleans is 3am here I think.

That's 2 withholdings instead of 1. I'm almost positive. I have a buddy who claimed 10, which I believe is beyond the max you can have. It took him YEARS to pay off his back taxes and penalties. As of a year ago he still had a bit left, but I figure he's done now. It destroyed his credit, among other things.

Wow you got it rough man. My dad's prolly got a much lower salary than yall, and he's getting 3100$ (2500$ US approx.) back, which includes substractions of salaries given to me and my bro for working (dad's salary is used to pay them, dunno if it works that way down there).

He's definitely getting some slack off.

Yeah I told my dad "that does it, next year WE'RE doing the taxes! Geez we waited weeks for uncle to do them!". It can't be hard, not from what I've seen.

It's done. I mailed the checks that day. I'm not going to worry about it. My tax rate wasn't that high, it was just that I didn't pay enough throughout the year.

This year I should have it right. I'm definitely pulling enough out now.
