Ok, can you install the new Apple OS in a PC?

Edit\ Isn't the Apple OS cpu dependent?

Yeah Tiger seems very interesting. This 200 new features thing is quite amazing. Gotta say they kept a lot under the hood since.

And you know what? At the risk of gathering a lot of criticism, I think they've done good by investigating the sources who released early info (leaks) on their products as well as leaking the OS itself.

And damn I wish MS would sell Windows for such a generous price like 129$. :frown: I'm stuck waiting on building a new comp to get the OEM version. Thankfully MS may actually give WinXP 64 for free as an upgrade to WinXP users.

Yea, but isn't Tiger CPU dependent?

Apparently they had run an Athlon with OSX. The performance was supposedly better than the MACs. I can't confirm where I've read this, prolly here, but I don't have any articles that I know of.

You probably can run it, but it has to be hacked in some way.

You have to use a PPC architecture emulator, and it is not as fast nor stable as a true Mac, but can be done. But WHY?

For the love of god if someone knows how to get a PC to run MAC OSX, PLEASE tell me. It seems like no emulator works right so far.

Reason is simple: we got a video project, and we have to use Final Cut Pro. It's a great program, except for one thing: it only runs on a MAC!

It irks me to have little time to work freely on such a long project.

Did you try running OSX Panther with PearPC or CherryOS (PearPC ripoff)?

I'm thinking about downloading Tiger from bittorrent (when it becomes available) and test it with emulators.

I was hearing about PearPC but there was never one news that touted it as truly a functionnal emulator. Seriously, if you get to try it, please tell me more about it. I might as well get it too. Got any good Bittorent places for OSX itself?

As for CherryOS, I thought it was simply held off due to the legal troubles and whatnot?
Is it really available in places to get?

Hehhee, buy a MAC, lmao.

Not for the stuff I do, friend.

They're getting better priced, but still far from delivering the required performance for my needs. Photoshop's about the only thing they can be worth at, but even then, my 3800+ should do as good, and will only get better with Win64.

You will probably find torrents at http://thepiratebay.org. Search using "mac os x", without any filter used.

I'm not going to test it very soon. It will take too long for me to download the files.

no you cant because mac's use a different CPU architecture, as Rich said

mac osx is based off an o/s called Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD, a specific variant called Darwin) which was also based off unix. im not sure if mac osx could run on PC's if it was compiled for the x86 architecture, but there are BSD's (like FreeBSD) that run on x86
